This project was a joyous blend of historical charm, custom craftsmanship, and out-of-the-box thinking, designed to add a whimsical yet elegant touch to a truly unique Western North Carolina retreat.
Handcrafted Whimsy, Engineered for Wonder
This bespoke indoor swing is a testament to the magic that happens when artistry meets structural ingenuity. Every element was carefully considered to create a piece that feels both perfectly aged and impeccably built:
Authentic Rustic Woodwork: The heart of this swing is its handmade wood seat, crafted from a beautifully imperfect, rustic old piece of timber. We embraced its natural character, allowing its unique knots and grains to tell a story, then finished the seat with chalk paint and expertly worn-down edges to give it that perfectly aged, antique look.
Secure & Stylish Suspension: The swing is gracefully suspended by two braided ropes, adding to its rustic appeal while providing robust strength. These ropes are securely anchored to the exposed steel trusses supporting the chapel's choir loft, showcasing our ability to integrate custom installations with existing architectural elements, even in challenging environments.
